Tardibail (pronounced "tardy-bye") is a peaceful and secluded holiday cottage set among woods and fields in the lovely countryside of the Ariege, in the midi-Pyrenees region of the south of France.

Where: The village of St. Jean du Falga, near Pamiers, one hour south of Toulouse.

Sleeps: 3 bedrooms, sleeps 5-6 comfortably plus a pull-out sofabed in the living room can accommodate an additional two people. Maximum occupancy is 8.

Rental fees: Rental rates are per week, from Saturday to Saturday. You may request additional days if they are available i.e. you are arriving on a Friday and need to stay Friday night or want to extend your stay. Please see our Calendar and Rates page for more details.

Description: Tardibail is a converted farmhouse set in beautiful gardens with lawns, shrubs and trees, and is over 100 years old. The property includes an unheated pool (one side bordered by lavender). To the rear of the property are a number of outbuildings and a barn and beyond those the river Ariege flows alongside the wood and is a constant background sound. Local anglers sometimes walk along this part of the river, which is publicly accessible. Behind the pool terrace, there is a barbecue terrace with a large barbecue and tables and chairs for outdoor eating. There is another terrace at the front of the house, ideal for aperitifs and affording some shade in the late afternoon.

Tardibail is within easy reach of towns and supermarkets. It is convenient to motorways and the mainline train service to Toulouse, which is the nearest city and most convenient airport. Tardibail is well situated for hill and mountain walking, historic sight-seeing and for a short period during the summer, the Tour de France, which passes through Foix. There are several ski fields and resorts in the area, and there may be snow in the mountains as late as April and May.

There is a guest annexe situated at the far side of the swimming pool, which has a a double bed and ensuite shower. There is a small, well-equipped kitchen and a small sitting area with a wood burning stove, TV/DVD and an extensive collection of books for your enjoyment. There is a spacious new extension which can be seen in the photograph to the right (the panoramic photograph above was taken before the extension was built). This garden room serves as a living room and dining area and has sliding doors leading to the pool terrace. The master bedroom (double bed) has a modern bathroom next to it and there is a smaller guest bedroom (single bed plus an additional fold-out single bed) with a toilet and wash-basin. There is a washing machine but no dryer available.
